Our 2nd (and last) day in Italy we went South to Pompeii.
Pompeii isn’t exactly close to Rome. I knew that it would be a long trek for us to go see it. We spent 5 hours on trains getting there, 3 hours at Pompeii, and 5 hours on trains getting back. It was a long day. The kids were so well behaved, though, and we were so proud of them!
On our trains from Rome to Naples and back, we got to sit in compartments – like Harry Potter! It was so fun! In most of Europe, kids under a certain age (Italy it was under 4) travel for free on the trains. What they don’t tell you is that they don’t get a seat. So our compartment had 6 seats, and 2 of them were occupied by other passengers. So we had to cram the 6 of us into the other 4 seats.
I’m so glad we got to see this amazing site!

LOVE the last picture!!!!!
