Domäne Mechtildshausen

I have driven past this little gemstone a hundred times, and it took me over a year to actually visit. It’s a bit hard to describe, but I’d say it’s a self-sustaining little village, where they have their own livestock and grow their own food. There are 3 restaurants on site, as well as a hotel, grocery store, butcher, bakery, and more. It’s super cute!

The entrance: you park outside and walk in through this archway.

The pretty pastures where the horses roam.

There were lots of animals around to see!

Visiting a donkey

There were dozens of horses in all shapes and sizes.

We had a fantastic breakfast at one of the little cafes.

There were beautiful flowers everywhere, and the whole place was meticulously maintained.

Isn’t this flower beautiful??

It was a nice little place! You can visit their website here: http://www.domaene-mechtildshausen.de/

Beware, though, it’s in German!

  1. We loved this place. The girls and I would stop every week after PE to get milk and yogurt. A few times we went to the back of the farm to see the cows and other animals. This place is one of the things we truly miss about Germany. I’m glad you discovered it. :)
